During a recent UX/UI Designer interview, I was asked a question regarding the evaluation of a legal document. The context of the question was as follows:

The user has a legal document and needs to determine the important aspects to consider before signing it. In a traditional setting, the user would seek the advice of a legal consultant. This product aims to assist the user in comparing the key aspects of the document with a standard template and evaluating it accordingly.

Problem Analysis

Why is Verification Required?

  • To minimize potential future risks.

Why Reduce Risks and Losses?

  • To ensure financial and property losses are prevented.

Problems with Consulting Legal Experts?

  • It can be time-consuming and costly.
  • There is a risk of human error.
  • Physical documents may be damaged during transportation.

How does the User Identify Risks in the Document?

  • By indicating the level of risk (high or low) through the introduction of risk factors.

What Should be Considered During a Check?

  • Key Clauses and Terms.
  • Termination and Revival Terms.
  • Clear and Unambiguous Language.
  • No Blank Spaces.
  • Default Terms.
  • Important Dates and Deadlines.

Ideation and Brainstorming

  • Increased Use of Mobile Phone Applications is a Better Option.
  • Convenient Options for Uploading Documents, such as Scanning from Camera, Uploading from Drive, and Selecting from Files, are Useful.
  • The Read Aloud Option is Extremely Helpful.
  • A Bottom Sheet is a Cleaner and Better Alternative to Pop-Ups.
  • Confusing Navigation Should be Minimized.
  • Document Storage After Check.

Story-boarding

Let’s Imagine a Short Story.

Story-boarding
Jon is searching for a property to buy and has found one.
Jon is negotiating with the current owner and the deal has been accepted.
He needs to sign the legal documents and is using a critical app for verification.
He scanned the document for verification and then signed it.

User flow

This is the planned user flow for the app.
